[okay, since he's almost there, and gwen is the best girlfriend ever and she's going to hold the door open for him, he really doesn't have to say anything else over text; he's so close, he's just down the hall, honestly, and he's made it this far without dropping something! but. but.]

[that was important enough to have the box go tipping. which sends him into a string of "nononononononono" before he sets everything right again.]

[ Standing out in the hall, Gwen hears him around the corner before she sees him; leaving her bedroom door ajar, she investigates the sounds of nearly-dropped-bagels. ]

[ Yes, she has important things to talk to him about, but for now Gwen can fondly watch him right the box and his phone, hands clasped behind her back. ]

You really asked the library for bagels.

[for a guy who's, at this point, pretty used to strange days, peter has had a strange day. there'd been bagels from a library, but then, you know, there'd also been bagels, real ones (he knows because he's already eaten one). on the other hand, he'd just been minding his own business going down the hall with said bagels when he'd been pointed at, and made some kind of example or something in the middle of an argument that lady he'd talked to on the network once was having with her — husband? fiancé? yeah, fiancé, that was it.

he feels kind of sorry for that guy, actually; she seemed pretty seriously mad.

anyway, long story short, he's here, and he's pretty much forgotten about anything except two things: one, the bagels, and two, gwen watching him like that.

as he comes closer, continuing to balance the box carefully, he's laughing.]

Yeah, c'mon, you've got a library that can get anything, who wouldn't ask it for bagels?

[with the balance achieved, he holds the box one-handed, and pockets his phone with the other.]

Koby — you talked to Koby, he said you did. Anyway, Koby said the library had a sense of humor, and I had to test it? Figured if it really wanted to mess with me, it would've gotten Dunkin, but —

[he holds up the box for gwen's closer inspection —]
